Shenzhen Second People's Hospital

　　Shenzhen Second People's Hospital was established in 1980, is a modern comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, rehabilitation, preventive healthcare, and health education. In 2008, with approval from the Ministry of Education, the hospital became the “First Affiliated Hospital of Shenzhen University”.

　　The hospital occupies a land area of 37,000 m² with a built area of 136,000 m² and operates with 1,910 open beds.

　　The hospital has 3,369 employees, 1,034 doctors and 1,343 nurses. Among them, there are 746 with senior titles, 386 with doctorate degrees, 7 experts enjoying the State Council's special governmental allowance, and 98 post-doctoral fellows in residence.

　　In 2023, Our annual outpatient and emergency visits exceeded 2.06 million, and the number of discharged patients reached 91,438.

　　We continue to develop a series of new technologies and programs to build a high-level hospital.

　　We have new technologies and advanced equipments, including luminal, robotic surgery, PET-CT, spiral CT, DSA, Da Vinci robot, strive to create a technology-driven clinical discipline group, and carry out robotic surgery and other international cutting-edge high-precision treatment technologies. In the past five years, we have carried out more than 130 pioneering new technologies and projects at home and abroad, and led or participated in the formulation of more than 110 diagnostic and treatment standards, guidelines, consensus and technical specifications.

　　The Foot and Ankle Surgery team completed the international first case of minimally invasive treatment for talus cartilage injury with reverse drilling under robotic navigation.

　　The Functional Neurology department, in cooperation with Corning Hospital and Tsinghua University, completed the international first case of ROSA robot-assisted 3T MRI-compatible DBS stimulation of the lateral rein nucleus for treatment of refractory depression, epoch-making Shenzhen as a city capable of conducting psychosurgery.

　　The Burns and Plastic Surgery department successfully treated a 12-year-old child with 97% TBSA third-degree burns, reaching the world's leading standards and reflecting the hospital's comprehensive treatment level and ability to treat public emergencies.

　　In 2019, relying on our hospital, the Shenzhen Institute of Translational Medicine (SITM) was established, dedicated to creating a shared service platform for translational medicine research resources across Shenzhen.

　　In 2022, the Shenzhen Second People's Hospital Medical Innovation Technology Transfer Center was established in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone.

　　We have 4 national scientific research platforms, 5 national clinical medical research center sub-centers (member units), and 42 provincial and municipal laboratories and platforms.

　　Frome 2016 to 2022, we consistently ranked among tht top 100 nationalo medical constitutions in the Nature Index rankings published by the Nature Publishing Group. In the ESI ranking, our 's clinical medicine discipline has been in the top 1% worldwide for five consecutive years (2019 to 2023), with 14 disciplines have consistently ranked within the top 100 nationally in total scientific and technological value (ASTEM) for five consecutive years.

　　In the second "Chinese Hospital Innovation and Transformation Ranking List", we ranked 24th nationwide and No.1 in Shenzhen.

　　We actively carry out international exchanges and cooperation, and have introduced a number of medical experts at home and abroad.

　　Our international exchanges and cooperation began in 1986. Since December 2014, in order to comprehensively improve the quality of healthcare in Shenzhen, and build an international medical center, the Shenzhen Municipal Government has been carrying out the "Sanming Project of Healthcare". The project aims to cultivate famous doctors, hospitals and clinics in Shenzhen, attract first-class medical talents and teams from home and abroad, build high-level hospitals, and improve the overall level of medical technology in Shenzhen, so as to satisfy the growing needs of the public for healthcare.

　　We have introduced 3 foreign "Peacock Plan" teams and 35 "Sanming Project" teams, the number of which is the highest in Shenzhen, including Professor. Guy Rouleau's team from the Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University in Canada, Professor. Marshall's team from the University of Western Australia in Australia, Professor Guy Rouleau of Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University, Professor Marshall of University of Western Australia, and Academician Hyman of Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital of Harvard Medical School are among the top teams from overseas hospitals.

　　The team includes 1 Nobel Prize laureate, 11 academicians, and 23 national first-class clinical experts.

　　We focus on major diseases, and have strengthened the capacity building for accurate prevention and treatment of major diseases.

　　We have been approved as the provincial center of the National Diabetes Standardized Prevention and Control Center and holds 3 Shenzhen Major Disease Prevention and Control Centers, which owns the largest number of such centers in Shenzhen.

　　We have actively promoted the medical and preventive integration program for neurological diseases and metabolic diseases in Shenzhen, and provided screening, prevention, treatment and care services in the whole process.

　　We took the lead in establishing the "Shenzhen Youth Spine Health Center", conducting scoliosis screenings in over 1,000 primary and secondary schools, with more than 5 million screenings completed to date.

　　Our "Thrombolysis Map" continues to play an exemplary role in the country, radiating to nearly 130 hospitals nationwide.   

　　We have always carried out foreign-aid medical work.

　　Since 1995, we have repeatedly sent professional and technical personnel to participate in foreign aid medical missions, treating common and frequent diseases in African countries and performing surgeries like cardiac and tumor remocal, which have saved a large number of lives.

　　We are the first completed teaching system within Shenzhen health system.

　　As the First Affiliated Hospital and the first clinical medical college of Shenzhen University, we closely integrate clinical teaching with medical practice and have established the first comprehensive teaching system within Shenzhen health sector. It currently has 25 national resident standardized training bases.

　　We are the first hospital in Shenzhen to be approved as the post-doctoral research station.

　　In July 2023, the hospital was officially approved for independent recruitment qualification for postdoctoral research stations, becoming the first hospital in Shenzhen to be approved as the postdoctoral research station. This platform facilitates the introduction of 26 young high-level doctoral talents.
