(1) The main research focus is on the mechanisms and translational research of ischemic stroke, including neurotransmitter receptor involvement in ischemic stroke mechanisms and translational aspects; endoplasmic reticulum stress and chemical genetics in stroke mechanisms and rehabilitation research; and the interplay between endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria in ischemic stroke mechanisms. Specific studies include investigating the neurofunctional mechanisms of excitatory receptor NMDA and inhibitory receptor GABBAα5 in stroke. Completed preclinical evaluation of GABBA α5α small molecule drug S44819, followed by Phase II clinical evaluation in 92 hospitals across 14 countries with an investment of 25 million euros, registered under ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02877615. Other research directions include Alzheimer's disease, spinal cord injury, cranial trauma, gliomas, and other brain injury-related disorders.
(2) Research directions also include tissue transparency and photoacoustic imaging (PAT), focusing on real-time dynamic imaging of brain vasculature and non-invasive imaging of gliomas.
